GREEN BAY – Police are warning North East Wisconsin residents to keep safe as temperatures become dangerously cold.

Captain Kevin Warych of the Green Bay Police says scary time of year.

“Going outside for a short period of time could result in medical emergencies just because of how cold it is.”

Warych also adds that drinking can also affect how the body responds to being old, and doctors agree.

Dr. Ryan Murphy of the Aurora Baycare Medical Center says “Alcohol impedes our bodies ability to recognize our body getting cold” and also that “when you consume alcohol you may not have the ability to shiver to stay warm.”

But there are also ways to keep safe:

·         Dress in Layers

·         Drink Responsibly

·         Be Aware of Your Body
