Appleton Police and other area law enforcement agencies are investigating after more than 30 complaints of fraudulent bank account activity were reported over the weekend in the Fox Valley.

Many of the reports are linked to unauthorized debit card withdrawals, police said.

Investigators from the Appleton Police Department have cautioned people about using ATMs and unregulated checkouts because of card skimmers.

Skimmers allow thieves to collect information from debit cards, police said.

If you're a victim of debit card fraud in the Fox Cities, report the crime to police in your community.

Investigators from local agencies will be working collectively on the complaints, Appleton Police said.

If you have information about anyone responsible for placement of skimmers, but wish to remain anonymous, use the “REPORT” feature on the Appleton Police Department’s free phone app.
