Medical issue caused fatal crash at Manitowoc Speedway

Wisconsin's racing community is coming together to honor the driver killed Wednesday night in Manitowoc. 
 
Matthew Schuh, 27 of Manitowoc died Wednesday night. 
 
An autopsy performed Thursday morning revealed no significant injuries, and itw as likely a medical issue that caused death prior to the car crashing. 
 
No alcohol or drug use is suspected. A toxicology report is expected back in 4-6 weeks. 
 
The investigation is still underway by the Manitowoc Police Department. 
 
'Due to unexpected events last night in Manitowoc, Luxemburg Speedway will be donating the 50/50 proceeds to the family of fallen racer. We will also be observing a moment of silence and taking donations for the family all night.'

The 27-year-old driver died in the crash which happened just after 7:30 PM during a heat race at the Speedway. It only involved one car. The male driver crashed into the infield guardrail and on-scene EMT's responded immediately. 

Because of the car's design, the roof needed to be removed and the driver was extricated from the car. 

He received immediate medical attention and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Lt. Matt Wallander says the race Wednesday night was part of the Manitowoc County Fair at the Manitowoc Speedway. 

The driver's name is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
