Video: Police ask parents to talk with teens about underage drinking during graduation season

With graduation season upon us Green Bay Police, The Brown County Health Department and area schools are warning parents and teens to find alternatives to drinking and have open discussions at home about the dangers.

Brown County Health Department officials say 33 percent of teens in Wisconsin report drinking, according to a recent survey. Green Bay Police recommending parents check in with their teen on where they’re going and with whom heading into graduation party season. “Know who is driving your child. Kids think its ok for me to drink because I’m not driving. If you’re drinking and not making clear decisions you may get into a vehicle where someone is drinking or taking drugs that you might not realize,” said Lt. Jeff Brester.

Lt. Brester says police will cite teens caught drinking at parties underage and adults can be held civilly liable for actions of teens provided alcohol at their house.
