Update: Fond Du Lac Sheriff's Department has identified the victims in the plane crash as Thomas Helm, 73 of Neenah and David Plathe, 60 of Dedham, MA. Both men were taken to the hospital for their injuries. Investigators say the pilot, Helm, was training the passenger on takeoffs and landings at the Fond Du Lac Airport. Shortly after a takeoff they reported engine troubles. The pilot attempted to return to the airport but did not have enough altitude and struck a power line before crashing into the edge of a farm field.

Emergency personnel were on scene of a small single engine airplane crash just south of the intersection of Esterbrook Road and Grove Street in the town of Fond du Lac, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department.

The two occupants of the aircraft sustained numerous injuries and are being transported to hospitals.  It is believed that they struck power lines along Esterbrook Road causing loss of control of the aircraft.  Esterbrook Road is closed between Forest Avenue Road and Rogersville Road while emergency and power crews work at the scene.

It took nearly 3 hours for the plane to be removed from the site and power crews had power restored by 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.
