A Menasha school is a finalist for Shopko's Tools for Schools competition and $5,000 grant.
Trinity Lutheran kindergarten teacher Heather Andreshak applied for the grant after seeing a need in her school.
Many students are on scholarships, which helps with tuition but not school supplies, she explained.
"That could help bring a lot for families to not have a burden, to not have to worry about school supplies," she said. "It will help teachers who maybe want really fun materials for hands-on projects."
Trinity Lutheran is one of two Wisconsin schools in the running.
