From flowers to veggies and a few herbs Bay Port High School's greenhouse is  full of lessons.

"They get to care and nurture something from start to finish and make mistakes and learn from those mistakes, said Agriculture teacher Whitney Barnes.

Barnes brought the greenhouse class to the high school after a 10 year hiatus, "We have so many students that don't know how to plant anything. They don't really know how plants work the nutrients that goes into growing and producing a life plant," said Barnes.

For Sophomore Taylor Weix" the class has brought to life a new passion for horticulture," It's a lot of fun because you get to see so many people learn new things."

At the end of the semester students will sell their plants and veggies to the community. The money will be used to replenish their supplies and help other student programs.

"All the profits go back in to leadership conferences and taking them to places where they can see opportunities that they can see a potential career for them," said Barnes.

The Shopko Foundation donated $550 to buy a horticulture printer. Students will be able to use it print waterproof labels with care needs for each plant.

The Greenhouse sale will be May 9th at Bay Port High School. It will start after school each day until plants are sold out.
