The Department of Corrections confirms a staff member was hospitalized after an inmate attack at Oshkosh Correctional Institution. The incident happened on Tuesday, October 11.
Oshkosh police are investigating the incident. In a news release, investigators report the correctional officer was stabbed in the arm with a makeshift knife while escorting a male inmate. The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The 49 year old inmate was arrested and a referral of charges of battery by an inmate was sent to the Winnebago County District Attorney's Office.
