A Manitowoc man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a chase that ended on the runway at Wittman Regional Airport Tuesday afternoon. State troopers he could be charged of excessive speeding and alluding arrest.

State Patrol attempted to stop the 56-year-old man on I-41 northbound for speeding just after 1:45 p.m.

He tried to flee the trooper in his 2001 Toyota Celica, and exited at STH 44, driving into Oshkosh, according to State Patrol.

The man entered airport property by ramming through a gate, then drove around access roads around the airport before entering onto the runway area, State Patrol said.

His vehicle allegedly stopped between two runways in the middle portion of the airport, and he was brought to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Airport personnel were notified of the incident to divert any aircrafts that were affected, State Patrol said.

NBC26 is choosing not to name the man until he's been charged.
