Almost 100 people were standing strong against domestic violence and sexual assault on Thursday night.

It was for the fifth annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event along The City Deck in Downtown Green Bay.

Everyone who participated on Thursday had to walk one mile in high heels to support victims and raise awareness for domestic abuse and sexual assault.

“It’s preventable and we really could do something to help our young people understand that these are not healthy relationships,” said Karen Michaels who is the Executive Director at The Golden House which helps victims of domestic abuse. “There's an opportunity to really have a community without violence to have relationships without violence.”

All the money raised from Thursday’s event, will benefit The Golden House and The Sexual Assault Center of Family Services, in Green Bay.
