Manitowoc Doctor Pleads Not Guilty to 19 Counts of Overprescribing Medications

A Manitowoc doctor appearing in Federal Court Wednesday and pleading "not guilty" to 19 counts of unlawful drug prescriptions.

Doctor Charles Szyman didn't say much as he entered the courtroom for his arraignment.  On his way into court Szyman wouldn't even speak with reporters, only saying "no comment" as the cameras pointed his way.

You'll remember the doctor, who has a suspended license, is accused of over-prescribing oxycodone, fetanyl, morphine, amphetamine and hydrocodone while working at Holy Family Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Judge James Sickel stating the jury trial must start no later than September 7th of this year.
 
Szyman was released on a personal recognizance bond.  Each of the 19 counts he's facing have a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million cash bond.
