A man hanging from a rooftop needed to be rescued by Fond du Lac firefighters on Sunday afternoon.

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue received a call around 6:48 p.m. Sunday from a man saying that his friend was stuck on the roof and was "losing his grip."

Crews arrived to a home in the 100 block of E. Scott Street and found the man hanging from the chimney near the peak of the roof.

Fire crews quickly placed an extension ladder and the man was able to grab it and climb onto it.

"Credit the rescue crews who kept the victim calm and provided him a safe passage off the roof" said Fire Chief Peter O'Leary in a press release. "As a reminder to all citizens, call 911 when you have an immediate need for a fire/rescue response. We are not always at our fire stations, and your call may not be answered as quickly if you call our non-emergency lines."
