For years, it was Shawn McDonough's dream to operate a Christmas tree farm.

Now, he and his family are living that dream, running Bay View Tree Farm in Luxemburg.

"You only live once, and this is something that I really wanted to do," McDonough said. "So, we kind of took a chance and it's paying off because it really is rewarding to see these families creating their lasting memories."

Shawn, his wife Cindy and their two sons took over a property formerly called Tillmann's Christmas Trees on County Line Road in Luxemburg just this year.

They sell Fraser Firs, Balsam Firs, Pine and Spruce trees, all for one flat price of $45. They also sell Christmas wreaths.

While helping families find that perfect Christmas tree is important, the McDonough's said it's even better to see people having fun and spending time together.

"It's a happy place to be, and if we're going to do something, we want it to be something that we enjoy and we can try to bring joy to other people as well," Cindy said.

The cut-and-choose tree farm offers wagon rides through the property, too.

"At Bay View Tree Farm, we're all about trying to create that family experience that helps create lasting memories," said Shawn. "That's what this is about."

The wagon rides take place when the farm is open on weekends from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through December 17. Every other day, families can come cut down a tree and leave their payment in a payment box.
