GREEN BAY-- An Oconto County man is facing a murder charge for allegedly shooting a teenager in 1998. According to police, Peter Hanson shot 19-year-old Chad McLean of Green Bay and dumped his body under a bridge near Hanson's home in Abrams. McLean was missing for a month before his body was found.

According to the criminal complaint, McLean and Hanson were drinking at Hanson's home the night McLean was killed. Police say Hanson shot McLean in the head several times, then allegedly dumped his body in the Pensuakee River.

About 30 of McLean's friends and family showed up at a press conference on the arrest. They did not want to comment on the case until it moves through the court system.

Police say they got a break in the case in 2009 after interviewing the suspect's wife. In 2011 additional interviews of family members and witnesses prompted a full "John Doe" investigation. The investigation wrapped up last week, resulting in Hanson's arrest.

Hanson is being held in the Oconto County Jail on child pornography and drug charges. Hanson is due in court on the murder charge March 28.
