New Security Measures at Green Bay Schools
GREEN BAY - The Green Bay School District is implementing new security procedures at its elementary schools.
Starting Tuesday, all outside doors will be locked at elementary schools throughout the city. Doors were required to be locked prior to Tuesday, but visitors had been able to access an entryway before coming inside.
"People that are coming into the building can be viewed for a moment and have that little extra time to see if there's anything -- do they seem anxious, does there seem to be anything wrong, prior to letting them into the building and then they still have to go through the office," said Pupil Services Director Barbara Dorff.
The district decided to implement the changes after receiving an outpouring of parent e-mails following the massacre at Sandy Hook.
