Report: Packers raise price to trade for Shields
GREEN BAY - A report says that the Green Bay Packers have set the price for a trade for a restricted free agent safety.
They have placed a "second round tender" on Sam Shields, according to NBC Sports.
If a team wants to sign Shields to an offer sheet, the Packers have the chance to match it.
If they do, they keep the safety. If they don't the team that signs Shields has to give the Packers their second round draft pick.
Shields picked off passes in each of the Packers' 2012 playoff games.
He also clinched the Packers' 2010 NFC Championship with an interception late in their 21-14 triumph over the Chicago Bears in January 2011.
