Kewaunee Power Plant Impact
KEWAUNEE -- A new report out tonight says the area around the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant will suffer a serious blow when the plant shuts down.
The Economic Impact study, performed by the UW Extension office in Madison with help from the office in Kewaunee, shows that plant employees from across three counties would lose a total of over $85 million dollars in annual income.
The area as a whole is expected to see losses of almost $640 million dollars per year. The power station is set to close in April or May, according to company owner Dominion Resources. The shut-down will cost the area more than 1,100 jobs.
