GREEN BAY, WI -- It's been a tough year for the Green Bay East High School cheerleaders, with girls dropping out, and getting hurt, the squad has seen better days.

But the teens aren't letting a few road blocks put the brakes on their dreams.

They only have five cheerleaders who've been with the team before this year. The rest are new, and some only have a few months of experience. But they've quickly become close.

“We’ve become family basically," said one cheerleader.

So when they made Regional’s, they were shocked and even more surprised when they made State.

The girls competed this past weekend. For many of them it was a first, and while they didn't take home a trophy, in a way they definitely still won.
