Changes Coming to Bay Beach
GREEN BAY - Major changes in the works for Bay Beach Amusement Park expected to bring in thousands of new visitors.
Green Bay's Parks and Recreation Committee outlined their 10-year plan tonight to add new attractions, including several new rides, a boardwalk, a playground, and even maybe an ice rink. The first step is to buy the "Sea Dragon Ride," a swinging pirate ship, and have it installed by the end of 2014.
"This is a very historical, classical ride, and as Jason indicated earlier this evening, this ride has been around since the 1800s. It is important for us that we keep the historical aspect of this park, so it was a perfect fit," said Dawne Cramer, the director of Parks and Recreation.
Improvements to Bay Beach will be funded by The Friends of Bay Beach organization and revenue from existing rides. No tax dollars will be used. The plan still has to go before the City Council for approval.
