A conference was held in Appleton on Tuesday that focused on how new legislation is making Northeast Wisconsin communities safer. A bi-partisan bill that passed at the end of last year is aimed at fighting internet crimes against children through a new task force. Congressman Reid Ribble joined directors at Fox Valley Technical College on Tuesday to discuss new training methods for investigating these crimes.

"I think really that's the thing that we're all working towards is how to interdict these crimes before they happen, or to help children who have been victimized. As you know, only 1 in 10 child abuse victims reports their victimizaiton," said Brandon Russ with Fox Valley Technical College.

Research shows that child safety task forces have been used to arrest more than 33,000 people for computer-related crimes.
