APPLETON - People around the world, including right here in Northeast Wisconsin, are taking part in a global campaign to end violence against women.

"One Billion Rising" is a movement to put a stop to the abuse of women and girls. Directors at Harbor House invited people to the Appleton City Center today, where they danced to show their support.

"One in four women are victims of violence or assault in their lives, and so all the organizations that are here today have partnered to raise awareness, provide service to those victims, and to let the community know that this is happening in our community," said Christina Romatowski, a Community & Outreach Advocate for Harbor House.

The event is now in its fifteenth year, and shelter directors say more and more people are joining the cause.
