Packers Donate to Wetlands Project
GREEN BAY, WI -- The Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Ducks Unlimited are partnering up to announce support for a local wildlife refuge.
A $75,000 donation from the Packers will help promote wetlands conservation efforts at the L.H. Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve. The project will help restore coastal wetlands in Green Bay. This donation comes after the Packers organization supported the building of a Cabela’s near Lambeau Field on a wetland site.
"The perception was that somehow or other we weren't as respectful to wetlands as we wanted to be,” said John Bergstrom, Ex. Committee Director of the Green Bay Packers. “Ducks unlimited came to our rescue and they were wonderful. They were our partners as we went through the different hoops. We never ever damage any natural wetlands."
Work on the L.H. Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve project will begin this spring, and should be completed within the year.
