Read-A-Thon at Green Bay School
Green Bay students welcomed a special guest Friday to kick-off their annual read-a-thon. Mayor Jim Schmitt read a book written by Packers wide receiver Donald Driver to the kids at Trinity Lutheran School. Organizers say they invited the mayor because he's a great role model.
"It was encouraging to see how someone who loves to read as a little child was able to become mayor of the city and it really empowers the kids," said Kristy Silva, Community Outreach Coordinator.
The read-a-thon is Trinity Lutheran School's largest fundraiser each year. Proceeds from the event support various programs at the school.
