Flu Bug Bites Northeast Wisconsin
A nasty flu bug is making its way around the country including Northeast Wisconsin. The Centers for Disease Control says Wisconsin is among the states with the highest percentage of positive flu tests. Hospitalizations are up nearly one-percent from this time last year. Health care workers at Saint Vincent Hospital in Green Bay are seeing the impact first-hand.
"Every day, I'm getting at least six to ten new cases in the hospital. It's really creating a strain on hospital bed capacities right now," said Nancy Lorenzoni, Coordinator, Infection Prevention, St. Mary’s and St. Vincent Hospitals.
Signs of the flu include fever, runny nose, cough, headache, vomiting and diarrhea. Health experts say the best way to protect yourself is to get a flu shot.
