GREEN BAY, WI -- Thousands of cell phones, were turned in at the Packers-Titans game. It’s a partnership with Verizon Wireless and the Packers for the HopeLine Connection.

Unwanted or used phones are recycled, or refurbished and resold, with funds going to organizations in the community working to help victims of domestic violence, including House of Hope in Green Bay.

Volunteers collected phones at all entrances for about two hours today.

“We've collected a lot of phones already. We're really hoping to get as many phones as we can. To make sure to give back to the organizations that need it most,” said Dana Carpenter, with Verizon Wireless.

Since 2001, HopeLine has collected more than nine million wireless phones and accessories.
