APPLETON, WI -- Thrivent Financial and the Salvation Army are partnering up to raise thousands of dollars.

Today is the 9th annual Red Kettle match Day, where Thrivent will match donations, up to $125,000. It’s the largest match day in the nation, and they have a big goal in mind.

Sally Walter has been saving up her money.

“I do it every year,” she said.

She’s been waiting for this day when Thrivent will match all donations.

“It's always had a special place in our heart,” she said.

This year, Thrivent is hoping to hit the mark of $2 million in donations, throughout the nine year partnership.

“One of the biggest gifts that it brings is hope. And the gift of hope during this time is pretty important,” said Peter Gianopoulous with Thrivent Financial.

They're even serving as a model for other businesses across the country to sponsor "Match Days."

“I think this is the day that even the grumpy people would have to smile,” said Capt. Randy Tooley with the Fox Cities Salvation Army.

Tooley said when you donate money to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive; the money stays here locally, to help neighbors in the Fox Cities.

“It might be somebody that you didn't even think about that you're helping out,” said Tooley.
