The Roaring Twenties Gala is a new take on a timeless theme. The event benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay, with funding specifically supporting the high school graduation initiatives at the Clubhouse facilities. The concept of preparing teens to graduate is not only important for the future of each child, it is important to the future of our community—and we need your help to make graduation a reality for each child.
Our country was among 33 others in a recent analysis of academic success for school age youth, and here are some results:
- U.S. was 14th out of 34 in reading literacy
- U.S. was 17th out of 34 in science literacy
- U.S. was 25th out of 35 in math literacy
- U.S. was 21st out of 34 in high school completion
In the United States when the 2011-2012 academic year ended, it was projected that just over 26% of high school students would not graduate on time, which is around 1.1 million kids or 6,000 each day that drop out.
Our programs such as Be Great Graduate, College 101, & Teens 2 Work motivate teens who otherwise would not receive the extra push of encouragement that they have the ability to go to college ( 4 year or technical), join the military or pursue a job immediately out of high school. At the Boys & Girls Club teens are learning job and college readiness on a daily basis.
