GREEN BAY - It was a warm welcome for Bill Clinton Friday evening, when he took the stage at UW-Green Bay to help re-elect Barack Obama.

2,500 people gathered at the Kress Events Center to hear the energized former President make his push for the democrats. Many are hoping his message and star power will make a difference at the polls this November.

Clinton also spoke in support of democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin, who he says will work day in and day out for the people of Wisconsin.

"She took on this race when people thought she didn't have a chance, and she kept fighting for you until you lifted her up. Don't let her down now," said Clinton.

When it comes to the race for President, Clinton says Obama's policies are working for America and blasted Mitt Romney for what he calls "empty promises".

"The truth is, given all the stuff he said for two years running for President.. and the real record of the President.. this shouldn't be a race. The only reason it is a race is that people want things done the day before yesterday -- and don't realize why the economy is not all hunky-dory now," he said.

Clinton says Obama will help create jobs in Wisconsin and pass a 10-year debt reduction plan while growing the economy.

"Barack Obama has done a good job with a miserable, miserable, miserable situation -- and we are on the way back," he said. "We will bring America back in a fair, balanced way - with Tammy Baldwin and Barack Obama."

Clinton made it clear that he knew his audience, telling the group of mostly college students that President Obama's plan will make attending university much more affordable. He also encouraged Wisconsin students to vote early this year. Early voting begins on Monday.
