Oshkosh Inclusive Park Fundraiser
Every child deserves to play on the playground. That's why the Oshkosh community is coming together to build a playground for children with physicial limitations. On Saturday, a fundraiser was held to generate money. A "Walk, Run, Roll" was held in the morning followed by a family carnival at the Sunnyview Expo Center. All the money raised will go toward the $480,000 playground project which is expected to be built by next summer.
"They'll be able to play together, learn together and develop that community from children on. They'll see that they're all in the same community. It's inclusive," said committee member Gail Hawley.
Funds are also coming in through grants and donations from the city and businesses. More fundraisers are planned for the future.
After the playground is built, organizers will begin a second phase of the project which will include a walking trail and a wheelchair-accessible fishing area along the Fox River.
