White Corn Harvest
ONEIDA NATION -- An organic farm in Oneida was harvesting their final cobs of corn today. Tsyunhehkw^ celebrated their ninteenth annual harvest this week. Community members came to the farm to help harvest corn and enjoy lunch.
"This is all hand picked. This is a certified organic farm.. That'ss one of the things we are trying to do is promote knowing where your food comes from. This is all food for humans," says Agricultural Supervisor Ted Skenadore
This 82-acre site provides food for the community that is free from pesticides and harmful chemicals. Tsyunhehkw^ means "life sustainance" in the Oneida language and summarizes their goal.
