GREEN BAY, WI--A new playground and hundreds of blankets for the elderly. It's all part of the Green Bay Packers second annual Community Day, where dozens of employees volunteered.

Armed with umbrellas and ponchos dozens of Packers staff got together to build a playground.

"We play in the rain so we build in the rain," said Packers President and CEO, Mark Murphy.

Volunteers are replacing the deteriorated one at Green Bay's John Muir park and the rain isn't dampening Bobbi Eisenreich's spirits.

"To be able to be out here and give back to the community working with my coworkers, it just makes me feel good," said volunteer Bobbi Eisenreich.

This isn't the first playground the Packers have been involved in building. But Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy says there is something unique about this activity.

"We do a number of things throughout the year where we have players and coaches for playground builds and other things but this is really the one event where it is strictly our employees," said Murphy.

Also happening for Packers Community Day, the Packers are donating around 150 of fleece blankets to senior living centers all over Green Bay.

At McCormick Memorial House, Packers employees stopped by to play bingo with the residents and pass out blankets to the winners. Having visitors is a bright spot in the day but the gesture goes beyond that.

"We are a not-for-profit provider so some of our residents don't have a lot of extra money to purchase things like that and so it's kind of a fun thing, a needy thing, a helpful thing," said administrator for McCormick House, Jim Genrich.
