Orange Barrels Removed From Oneida
ASHWAUBENON-- Crews are putting the final touches on the Oneida street construction project. Oneida has been lined with almost 1,000 orange barrels for months. But Friday those barrels are finally being removed.
Crews took advantage of a mild winter to wrap up a nearly $8 million project in one construction season. That’s encouraging for Karen Schultz-Hess at Calla’s Boutique, who says business suffered during construction. "The last little bit got really bad they had blocked off a lot of the lanes and people couldn't really get through as easily, now that it's opened up the traffic is coming back," she said.
More than 20,000 cars use that stretch of Oneida daily, creating a challenge for construction crews. But now that it's over, dozens of stores along this stretch are ready to get back to business as usual.
