RIPON, WI -- It's rare to find someone who loves their job, especially after six decades! But for Melvin Blank, who is celebrating his 60th year at Alliance Laundry in Ripon, there’s nothing else he’d rather be doing.

Melvin’s been at the job since 1952, starting at Alliance Laundry when he was just 19 years old.

“I needed a job, and I never left,” said Blank.

And it's the only job he's ever had. The company is dedicating a new building in his name.

“It’s quite an honor really,” said Blank.

They'll hang a plaque once it's finished in February. They also gave him an honorary parking spot, and a new washer and dryer, to replace the one he bought from his company back in 1981.

“He always happy to out an honest day’s work in, and he's always a joy to be around.  He's everything you would want in an employee,” said Todd Kaull, Plant Manager.

His secret is getting good rest at night. But, being 80 years-old doesn't stop him. He still gets up at 4:00 every morning to farm with his son.

“If I had it to do over, I’d come right back here again,” said Blank.

Besides some health issues and vacation, Melvin has only missed three days of work in 60 years! This longevity must run in the family. His son has also worked Alliance Laundry for 20 years!

“I know he loves this place, and he loves working with all the people. It's like his social life kind of,” said Michael Blank, Melvin’s son.

Melvin said he doesn't know when he'll retire, but he's not one to sit around.

“I have no regrets about staying here, believe me,” said Blank.
