MANITOWOC COUNTY –A body was recovered from a lake in Manitowoc county Saturday night and now officials are working on determining the cause of death. The body of a 27-year-old Milwaukee man was recovered from Cedar Lake.

This is the third person recovered from a body of water in our viewing area this month.

Details are scarce at this point but he coroner says this appears to be accidental. For those who frequent the lake it is a sad day.

The news of a body pulled from Cedar Lake Saturday night is making waves in the town of Schleswig.

I feel very badly that this happened. I wish we could have been here and been able to help," said tourist at the lake, Dan Garton.

Garton says he grew up on a lake just like Cedar Lake and can't believe a man died there

"For me, having spent all my time on the lake, it is almost incredible to imagine that can happen," said Garton.

Around 9 pm Saturday, Manitowoc county officials recovered the body of 27 year old Max Ergen from Milwaukee.Ergen was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff's deputies would not comment on camera about the investigation but the coroner's office released this statement.

"No foul play is suspected, and the manner of death appears to be accidental."

This is the third water related death in the area this September. Earlier this month a Port Washington teen drowned in Lake Michigan and a Freedom man drowned trying to rescue his grandson from North Beach in Sheboygan.

"It must be horrible. My heart goes out to them. It's a tragedy for them. It's a terrible thing," said Garton.

Those at Cedar Lake now say they can't imagine the loss the families have suffered.

The Manitowoc County coroner says an autopsy will be performed Monday to confirm the cause of death.
