APPLETON-- An Appleton soldier killed in the Korean war is finally coming home. 18-year-old Private First Class Arthur William Hopfensperger was killed in North Korea more than 60 years ago. His body was among thousands of U.S. soldiers who were listed as missing in Korea.

The soldier’s cousin, Elayne Lastofka, submitted her DNA 7 years ago and government scientists recently matched her sample with her cousin's remains.

"We were very surprised, we never thought they would never find him after 62 years. We have closure for the family its  a loved one that's come back it seems like,” Lastofka said.

It's a homecoming this solder's family says is worth waiting more than six decades for. The final arrangements are still being planned, but the once the body returns he will be buried in a family plot at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Appleton.
