Gearing Up for the Games

GREEN BAY, WI -- The Packers are gearing up to take on the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday. And then, they'll be taking on the Chicago Bears next Thursday. 

All the home-game action means big bucks for businesses and hotels in the area.  
 
The Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau said there are still hotel rooms left for this Sunday’s game, but there are even fewer left for the game against the Bears.
 
Brad Toll, President and CEO of the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitor’s Bureau said each home game usually brings in about $8.5 million.
 
“It’s not just those that directly benefit from the actual dollar, the visitor or the fan coming into their cash register, its spread throughout the community,” said Toll. 
 
Helping businesses like hotels, grocery stores, restaurants, bar, and of course places like the Jersey Store. 
 
“Those eight regular season games are two preseason games are huge to businesses in the area. None of us could survive without the home games,” said Mike Walters, Manager of the Jersey Store.  
 
They're already busy Friday, with fans buying up a storm.
 
And next door, Stadium View Bar and Grill owner, Jerry Watson is getting the stage set for this Sunday.
 
“You can’t bring me too much beer, you can't bring me too much liquor, you can’t bring me too much food,” said Watson. 
 
Two games in five days, they have to be ready for the crowds. 
 
“I overstock all the time,” said Watson.
