Free Shirt at Packers Home Opener
GREEN BAY, WI--The Packers will open the season on Sunday in grand fashion! Several members of the team as well as Packers legend Bart Starr announced what fans can look forward to when the Packers host the 49ers on Sunday.
Every fan who goes to the game will have a special something waiting for them. A t-shirt, so everyone can proudly unite in green and gold.
Lambeau Field is silent now but come Sunday imagine more than 70 thousand fans simultaneously donning the same shirt.
Boyz II Men will perform the national anthem, then an F-16 fly over..and then...a sea of green and gold.
"It gets the blood flowing it gets the energy up and the guys are ready to go," said Packers wide receiver, Jordy Nelson.
On hand for the announcement Packers players Jordy Nelson and Jarrett Bush.
"We feed off you guys to see the green and gold yelling screaming out there bouncing and having a good time," said cornerback Jarrett Bush.
Former Packers quarterback Bart Starr. was also at Lambeau for the event. Starr remembers his days in Green Bay talks about the sanctity of the green and gold colors.
"I don't know of anywhere in the country where we have been, visited, of any other team, where their colors speak so loudly," said Starr.
The shirts are green or gold with the "G Force logo on the front.
On the back, the tide logo, sponsor for all NFL colors.
And for some fans it means much more than just a free shirt.
"The green and gold...It is the Packers. It is the history of the whole thing behind it and everybody owns it," said fan, George Gudex.
The Packers are calling this the first ever "Green and Gold -out."
It's part of a national Tide campaign with the NFL.
