Murder and Attempted Suicide in Marinette County
MARINETTE COUNTY, WI-- A 51 year old woman was killed and a 55 year old male was wounded after a murder and attempted suicide in the Village of Wausaukee in Marinette County. Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reports that at 2:47p.m., Marinette County Dispatch received a call of a shooting at the Citgo Convenience store at 306 Main Street.
Once Sheriff's deputies were on the scene, they discovered the 55 year old male just outside the store with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported by Wausaukee Rescue Squad Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette County. Inside the store, a 51 year old female employee was found behind the counter, she was pronounced deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Witnesses tell us the suspect and the victim were in a previous relationship. The Marinette County sheriff has not yet released their names.
Initial investigation indicates that the male subject shot the female victim inside the store and then shot himself. Nobody else was injuried as a result of this situation. The Sheriff does not feel there is any further danger to the public.
This investigation is continuing and more information will be released at a later time. We'll have more information as details are released.
