Town of Scott-- The spot where two Preble high school teens died after their car flipped into a creek, is a painful reminder to those who knew the 16 year old girls. Now, many people in the town of Scott want the Department Of Transportation to install a guardrail to prevent another tragedy.

Gabrille Fristche and And Paige Dereene died in March. The crash was declared an accident.

Now the town's chairman is petitioning the DOT to put up a guardrail at the intersection of Highway 57 and Church Rd.

Town of Scott Chairman Mike Van Lanen is an elected official, but he also lives next door to one of the victims families. Van Lanen recently asked the DOT  to consider adding a guardrail. It was removed in 2004 after the highway was widened, the road meets state guidelines.

The DOT is considering the request telling NBC26  "the department plans to proceed with this analysis, reviewing the crash history, type of crashes, contributing factors to crashes."

The DOT  began the analysis  of that intersection this week, no timetable has been set for  a decision.
