City Council Delays Sex Offender Vote
Green Bay-- The proposal would have put an extra restriction on sex offenders in the city, banning them from standing within 150 feet of any place where children often gather. But after a long debate, the council decided it needs more time before acting on the controversial law. It was a small victory for those opposed to making Green Bay's sex offender ordinance even tougher.
Current city law forbids sex offender from living within 2,000 feet of a park or school without special permission from the city's Sex Offender Registry Board. The Welfare and Protection Committee will discuss the ordinance at its next meeting later this month.
