MILWAUKEE (AP) - Gun sales are up in Wisconsin, reflecting a
national trend.
Firearms-related businesses in the state say they are having a
difficult time meeting demand. They say the rising demand is being
generated by factors ranging from Wisconsin's concealed carry law
to presidential politics.
Exact figures on firearms sales don't exist. But the Milwaukee
Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/KuIrD8 ) reports that based on the
number of calls made to the FBI and Wisconsin Department of Justice
for background checks related to firearms purchases, more guns are
being sold this year than ever.
But not everyone is happy with the increase in gun sales.
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence says higher household
gun ownership "correlates with higher rates of homicides, suicides
and unintentional shootings."
