GREEN BAY--Eight months after a fire scorched a downtown Green Bay restaurant they're finally grilling burgers again.

It was the smell of success at "Al's Hamburger Shop" Sunday. The 78-year-old restaurant on Washington Street was gutted when a blaze broke out back in August--which fire investigators believe may have started near a gas grill in front of the building.

The family who owns the restaurant worked for months to fire up the grill again.

"The fire was devastating to our family," said Angela Kahler, who's a co-owner. "We waited a long time for this to be open, and mom passed away March 10th. She was not able to see Al's be open. She would be so proud to see it opened up, and it's just the most exciting thing to see."

The family first opened "Al's Hamburger Shop" back in 1934.
