City Worker Dies
Green Bay-- A city employee of more than 20 years was killed while on the job in a lawnmower accident. The accident happened at the intersection of W. Mason and Country Club on Green Bay's west side.
Investigators say Donna Lucht was found in the street pinned underneath a riding lawn mower used buy public works employees. Lucht had been a city employee for 22 years, the last 14 in the public works department. She was mowing a section of grass when her equipment had some kind of malfunction, she was attempting to use a grease gun on the mower shortly before the accident.
Public Works Director Ed Weisner says it always a tragedy when a fellow employee is hurt or killed in the line of duty. Weisner says two others workers have died while in the job in the last 30 years.
Mayor Jim Schmitt released the following statement: "We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident and the loss of a great employee. Donna was a loyal, caring employee who will be missed by city employees and the Green Bay community. We continue to pray for her family during this extremely difficult time."
Lucht is survived by two grown children. Her funeral services are pending.
