Welding Competition
GREEN BAY, WI - Aspiring welders from around the state gathered in Green Bay Saturday. They came to NWTC for the SkillsUSA welding competition. During the event, they were challenged to prepare metal, fit a pressure vessel, and work with other products to test their skills. So far the students have only had eight months of training.
“They have to use all the different welding processes. They gave to use all metal preparations and product techniques. They have to fit the project up correctly. And they're being measured on all their different skills that they're using at any given point,” said Doug Tennant, a welding instructor.
The competition also involved a written test. Local industry representatives served as judges.
