Green Bay-- A federal judge ordered a trail to determine if and when dredging of the Fox River will resume. The dredging project began in April of 2009. Two of the companies involved in the case stopped work last summer to save money.  According to attorneys for the defendants that trail is set for December.

Appleton papers and the company it bought in 1978, NCR  Inc. will stand trial to decide who is responsible for the cleanup.

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that Appleton Paper Inc.  is no longer responsible under federal Superfund laws for costs to clean up the Fox River.  But the company still has a stake in the most recent decision, and the upcoming trial. API is responsible for 60% of any amount NCR is ordered to pay.
