Criminal Complaint Released
State of Wisconsin vs Robert J Ryan
Sheboygan, WI - New information on criminal charges against the former Mayor of Sheboygan. Court papers released today explain why Bob Ryan is now accused of two counts of sexual assault, from a drinking binge last summer.
In the original complaint, the alleged victim graphically reveals a play by play of what happened that summer night. According to the complaint on July 23rd, 2011 the victim said "She suddenly felt two hands from behind her" and that "they squeezed both her breasts".
The victim said she was with her friends at a bar in Elkhart Lake when the former Mayor sexually assaulted her. Sheboygan County District Attorney Joe DeCecco says the alleged victim waited until now to speak out, because of the media frenzy. "The alleged victim was very reluctant at the time because there was a lot of media coverage on what had happened that weekend besides this thing."
But some people are questioning the allegations. Brian Konitzer a Construction Worker from Sheboygan said "I don't believe it. A year later she wants to talk about a sexual assault? I don't believe it."
The former Mayor of Sheboygan who was recalled in February has been scrutinized for his after hours lifestyle. Ryan has denied both of the charges, with the criminal complaint revealing, "The defendant adamantly denied doing so".
Distrcit Attorney, DeCecco, said there are witnesses. "So we have the victim and two witnesses and there's no surveillance tape, and we just go with what we got." If convicted Ryan face up to a year and half in jail. He is due in court April 23rd for his initial appearance.
