Kaukauna, WI-- Tornado season is here.  Wisconsin Emergency Management is reminding you to be prepared.     The warning comes as storm victims in Kaukauna reflect on the tornado that hit April 10, 2011. "At first it was scary being a part of something like this because it could have been a lot worse than what it was,” said Kaukauna resident Michael Carey.

Everyone in Kaukauna seems to recall April 10 2011. It began as a sunny and warm Sunday. "As the day went in late afternoon and early evening you can tell that something was happening with the sky,” said Mayor Gene Rosin.

“The siren went off I remember hearing that and then my wife stated that it's totally black outside and we heard this howling sound and I told my wife grab the kids let's get down in the basement, and it happened that fast,” said Carey.

Michael and Anne Carey's home and garage were damaged and memories of that night surface every time they hear the storm siren. "I used to go outside and see how the sky looked but I don't do that anymore, I go straight down to the basement,” Anne Carey said.

The storm that ripped some homes apart brought this community closer together than ever before.
