KAUKAUNA, WI - Kaukauna High School is on alert again Thursday, after a bomb threat is reported for a second straight day. The school district said two different incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday are making them take action. So far nothing has been found at the school, but security measures are in place.

The school district and Kaukauna Police did a complete sweep of the school and brought in bomb sniffing dogs after the second threat on Wednesday, but found nothing. Parents were informed through a phone system letting them know about these possible threats.

Threats were reportedly written on walls in the high school, but police won't release the details, saying this is an ongoing investigation.

"This is not a subject that should be toyed with,” said Michael Kenney, Public Affairs Consultant for Kaukauna Schools. “This is a very serious issue."

He added that safety and learning will not be compromised. And students are handling the situation well.

"They seem to be working closely with administration and following the procedures that we ask them to do,” said Kenney.

He said security measures will continue.

But the threats are concerning for some neighbors who live close to the school.

"Usually when you turn on the news those things are not in your hometown,” said Jenny Vanhilvert.

She said her two kids were concerned after hearing about the threats.

"We told them we hope that it's not true, but sometimes bad things do happen, but we have to hope that things work out,” she said.

And she added, in a way, the threats could mean the person responsible is asking for help.

“He or she is reaching out and I think they need help,” said Vanhilvert. “And in the meantime, we have to trust our authorities to do the right thing."

All classes went on as scheduled Thursday. Kenney said because the threats were discovered late in the afternoon, there was no reason to evacuate the school in either incident.
