Kaukauna Shooting Range Concerns
You Ask, We Investigate
Kaukauna, WI - Bullets found on a popular Kaukauna hiking trail just above a popular Kaukauna shooting range are raising concerns. Darin Worsch contacted NBC26 after years of trying to get the city of Kaukauna and the police to question the Sportsmen's Club, which sits right below the trail. He's worried about public safety, and says it's time someone takes his concerns seriously. Darin's wife, Kim, said "The safety of the city needs to come first." The Worsch's have been fighting a lonely battle to clean up the trails and are not giving up.
But the Sportmen's Club says there hasn't been any accidents and that no other complaints concerning the trail in question, have been filed. Craig Kubiak, Spokesman of the Kaukauna Sportsmen's Club said "At this point there isn't any real evidence that we've seen, that those have come from here. I'm not saying that it's not impossible."
Lieutenant Jamie Graff of Kaukauna Police agreed. "Every time we've gone to the gun range we've met with the shooters, we've met with the range masters and everything that they were doing was in accordance to the city ordinance."
However as proof, Darin Worsch recorded a video of the bullets he says he's found. NBC26 spoke with Kaukauna Mayor Eugene S. Rosin and he said that this was the first complaint he's heard concerning those bullets. He said he has heard many complaints from the Worsch's about the loud noise coming from the Calibur's used at the Sportmen's Club, but never about the trail. Now he promises to get the city to investigate it.
