Lawrence University President Retiring
APPLETON, WI - The president of Lawrence University plans to retire after nine years at the helm.
Jill Beck is the college's fifteenth president and the first woman president in Lawrence's history. She plans to step down in June of next year.
"I have a theory that 8 to 10 years is the ideal period for leadership. You get the most done, you're able to move quickly and accomplish a great deal. After that length of time, things can tend to slow down, so it was based on that." said Lawrence University President Jill Beck.
The college's board has already begun its search for a new leader.
